I was able to find places in europe that I would never have found without it.
But it didn't always find satellites and the map information was wrong at times.
The dashboard disk and suction cup device needs to be re-designed. Velcro works better. But the power cord is located on the back of the unit and interferes with the velcro connection.

I was traveling with my family in Italy this summer and bought the Garmin Nuvi 270 because it was billed as ready to use in Europe. The Garmin was totally useless in Rome and Florence. It was constantly searching for satellite connections--and never finding them. I ended up relying on tourist maps to get around. If your goal is to use this as a device to assist you in Europe---Beware!!!

If anyone has ever been to Europe you know how the roads do alot of name and direction changes and alot of one way roads as well. The Nuvi is great for getting around town and the country side in Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. It does a fare job with the speed cameras as well.

We bought this for use in Europe. We live in southern Spain, and before buying this we usually got lost going everywhere. The step-by-step directions got us from the door of our house to our hostel in Lagos, Portugal, with zero problems, in 20 minutes less than we had heard it takes to get there.

At least in Europe, it alerts you when there is a speed control zone by beeping and flashing, telling you the speed limit. That is quite handy.

The only problem we have had is sometimes it gets confused on round-abouts, telling us to take the 4th exit, then one second later it says to take the 6th exit, then the next second it says take the 8th exit... all in a roundabout with only 3 exits. But as long as you follow the map it shows in those situations, you will be fine.

This was the cheapest Nuvi we could buy with both American and European maps pre-loaded. It was the best investment we have ever made.

I bought this GPS because of the dual USA/Europe maps already loaded into the unit. From the moment we started it up at the Dublin Airport until we got back, it never missed a beat. Since I was learning how to use it on the fly, it was neat to use the "Where To" screen to find the golf courses we were playing. It is so easy to use, it is now my favorite GPS in the states, and we even use it in my wife's Toyota, whose standard GPS is hard to use.

Works well in U.S. and was extremely helpful in Scotland during a recent golfing outing. The wrong side of the road plus all those rotary cross streets can be very confusing. Two years ago, we spent many times driving in circles looking for signs, They were a breeze this trip. Directions ahead of time as to which exit to take make it very simple and much safer.
