Right out of the box, the unit was good to go. With a little setting up w/my home computer, I was able to back up the device, and include recent changes and updates. I like how the splash screens can be changed by simply creating the correct size image, and replacing the pics. I have yet to find a fault- if I mess up (intentionally), it will get me back on my way QUICKLY!

I was a little nervous buying this unit because of the low price. However, I just got back from a trip to Charleston, SC with my wife and we really put it to the test. So far, it has exceeded my expectations and has been perfect for us! TomTom Home has been very easy to use on the laptop. I had read some reviews where people had problems downloading the updated maps, but I just did it with zero problems. I actually called TomTom first to see if they recommended I do anything before I updated and they were very friendly and helpful. Turns out I didn't need to do anything, but they did ensure the newest map was in my TomTom Home for me.

The only problem I've had is being able to access Tomtom.com from my home computer, but I'm not sure if that is tomtom's fault or mine. I've been accessing it from work no problem.
