Comments about Garmin GPSMAP 545s GPS Marine Chartplotter & Sonar Sounder w/ Dual Frequency Transducer:
I just installed the 545S and transducer myself. It was not that difficult. I have used this unit one time now on Florida's intracoastal waterway. This has been a wonderful addition to my new boat. Knowing ahead of time what the depths are and that those are very accurate (when correlating to the sounder) makes the boat rides less apprehensive in shallower waters. I can't wait to use it out in the ocean and in the Keys! I would recommend this to everyone so far. I will be getting the g2 Vision card also for information on the local lakes and the cool images to correlate depth and overhead information when going to the Keys.

Comments about Garmin GPSMAP 545s GPS Marine Chartplotter & Sonar Sounder w/ Dual Frequency Transducer:
I waited to buy this marine GPS for 2 years. I am very happy that I did. The "direct sunlight read-able" is right on the money. I was going to buy the cheaper model, but am glad I spent the extra "buck". It is so much nicer to use out on the ocean in the sun & you can see it clearly from any position, not just right in front of the unit. My only beef, is that the owners manual should be a little more user friendly. After trying to "quickly" set it up at the marina, I found myself going out and anchoring in a cove for a few hours and just "monkey" with it to get used to the unit. That was a big help, now I can use it on the fly. I decided to wait a year to upgrade to the vision card, now that I have used it for a season, I am comfortable enough with it that I will purchase it over the winter. It is an excellent GPS, I would recommend it to everyone. It is a quality, user friendly GPS in a small package that is large enough to see while bouncing around on the ocean.
