Comments about Garmin zumo 665 Motorcycle GPS Navigation System:

Zumo 665 used for 6000+ Motorcycle trip.
Things that Worked great:
GPS worked flawlessly.
XM Radio worked flawlessly.
Bluetooth phone interface work very well.
Maps were nearly perfect. (I used 3000miles of "B" roads on trip and unit picked a good route nearly everytime.)
Located Hotels, Fuel, Food, and National parks, Repair shops, ....all POI's I needed were in the database so for this trip this was a useful feature.
Mounting base worked great and was secure. I did not use the Garmin clamp on mounts to secure it to the Motorcycle I had a hardmount on Triple tree top nut I would recommend going this way for serious touring with this unit.
Weather alerts are helpful occationally the storm position is not exact but it gives you a good idea of size and severity of storm/rain

Things that didn't work:
Attempted to install 2 topo maps from Garmin website One to the unit and one on the M-SD card. The unit would not recognise either map, Garmin took 4 days to respond to Email about the issue and has failed to resolve it.
Power switch sometimes sticks on my unit in the down position the build quality of the switch is marginal this is so far a minor issue. It causes the unit to keep cycling on and off. Only happened twice and is minor tapping switch again corrects it.

Traffic alerts I did not find helpful at all I turned on the Auto diversion/avoid traffic for one leg it sent me off highway to surface street that was all red lights and cost me 4 very frustrating hours. I turned the Avoid traffic feature off for the remainder of the trip.

Things that you should know:
When activating the XM Receiver you may need to call XM and add Traffic and weather data service to the account if you want the unit to display this information.

Another usefull feature is the Safety camera alerts this is a subscription service through Garmin I find this can be useful. The Unit will alert when approaching intersection or camera.

Summary this unit exellent in nearly every area. A lot of the technology in this unit is very cutting edge. The GPS locks on almost at once even inside my house. I had it in temperatures below freezing and over 100. In rain and bad weather. It worked excellent. Very few GPS's can survive in the envirorment that this one was designed to live in. I would recommend this unit.
