Comments about Friedrich XQ05L10A- X-Star Series 5500 BTU Air Conditioner:

The unit is installed in a bedroom near the head of the bed and runs quietly enough to get a good night's rest. When it is not running the thick side panels, added insulation and plastic base pan prevent outside noise from creeping in.

It's larger/heavier than units with the same BTU rating but that's because the case and several components are shared across the X-Star Series. Definitely built for years (decades?) of service.

Comments about Friedrich XQ05L10A- X-Star Series 5500 BTU Air Conditioner:

Bought this to use in daughter's small bedroom. I was concerned about through-the-wall installation looking tacky and the unit being too loud for the small room. Instead, it looks professional, operates quite quietly (unless at the highest fan speed, and even then isn't too terrible) and cools the room quickly and efficiently. I know it has also saved us money versus using two large fans to push cool air from our central air duct in the master bedroom over into that smaller room which had no duct.
