This is the only microwave of it's kind being only 12" deep. If you're tight on space and can't install a microhood over the stove, this is a great (and cheaper) alternative. Easily installs under cabinet with hanging kit.

I just installed this to replace my four year old over priced built in DACOR.I didn't use the optional trim kit. I used existing DACOR, then went to [...] and purchased a one inch strip of decorative aluminum to fit under the unit. Looks beautiful.The new microwave is quiet, and does a very good job in even heating, which is my usual complaint about hot vs cold spots. (Yes, I know... Let it sit for a minute!)Easy to set up menu, and easy to use keypad. I didn't even read the instruction booklet. While large enough for cooking 2-3 servings at once, would not recommend if you cook for four or more people at once.

This microwave works perfectly. It is handsome, relatively quiet, and the controls are clear. It was a replacement for a cheaper microwave I bought that was very temperamental, only starting once out of every three times I tried to use. I highly recommend it.

Installation of microwave with trim kitI also purchased with this GE microwave the 'trim kit'--which gives the 'built-in' look. The trim kit was almost as much as the microwave; however, very worth it. I replaced a previous GE profile...and this 'new' version is DEFINITELY hands-down better than the other one (GE Model) I owned (replaced).
I will take a picture of the microwave with the trim kit so you can see the 'built-in' look.

The unit seems to be lighter than the previous model it replaced and the door does not seem to be as sturdy as the previous model. This model is a bit larger than the previous model. Previous model was mounted under the counter and this model fit using the same mounting brackets. This model comes with rotating plate and more functions, but the stainless steel shows more finger prints. Overall, seems like a good product that takes up very little space and looks good.

Very happy with microwave so far (1 month). Not many choices when looking for a microwave this size 24" wide, yet a shallow depth to accommodate a recessed cabinet. We only use the microwave for reheating meals and defrosting, occasional popcorn, etc.... Thus far, it has performed very well. I bought it primarily for it's size, without researching any performance factors. I have been happy and would purchase it again.

I purchased this as a replacement of an earlier model which my son ruined by significantly over-cooking a frozen burrito and causing smoke damage. It is my 3rd in 16 years, and each one has performed as well as the one it was replacing. The in-cabinet trim taken off the old model fit around this new model perfectly allowing me to re-use it. The microwave heating is very predictable and powerful given it's small size.
