Comments about Whirlpool MH3184XPQ - Over The Rage Microwave - White:
We purchased this unit a month ago . We chose it over other brands/models because it has superior lighting, is very quiet ( has an internal fan for circuitry cooling besides the top blower), has a 4-speed blower, and is large actually measuring out at almost 1.93 cu.ft rather than the 1.8 that is specified. It has some of the same features as the more expensive Whirlpool Gold model GH5184. Both models have twin over-the-range lights near the FRONT of the cabinet bottom to provide excellent lighting for your cook top. It also has twin grease filters positioned right above where your range burners will be, thus providing better than average pull for venting steam and vapors. This unit can also be equipped with the SAME charcoal odor filters that are in the more expensive GH5184. These twin charcoal filters intall in slots just above the grease filters. These filters can be bought substantially less online from [...] for about $6 a pair, or buy bulk charcoal filter materials from your home [...] supply store. The differences between the GM5184 and the MH3184 are some warming and thawing cycles (3 extra control buttons) and the Accuwave (inverter) powered magnetron circuitry. If you are satisfied with the good old reliable standard microwave operation, you won't miss these few new features. In fact, some reviews online suggest that inverter circuits fail after two years or so and cost $$$ to repair. GE has the "Circuwave" inverter microwave, and Panasonic has the original "inverter" type microwaves. Panasonic inverters seem to hold up, the others are debatable. So, all things considered, this was the best buy for us and can be purchased for $300 - $385 at many stores.
