Comments about LG WM2301HW - Front Load Washer - White:

This product is amazingly quiet. No vibrations whatsoever. It's probably the most energy (both electric AND water!) efficient model out at this time. Many utility companies give additional rebates for this--so check that out too. Although the washing cycles are almost twice as long as those on my horrible old washer, it uses only a tiny fraction of the old one's energy, and saves at least 50% in cost AND time on the drying cycle, so the total combined cycle time is about the same. It works far better when items of similar bulk are used. It seems to sense similar items and pre-dries them at the end of the cycle if they are of a similar type. Normal clothing--jeans, cottons, and even delicates can be mixed. Keep towels and very heavy bulky items separate. A single towel load together pre-dries the towels amazingly well, whereas towels mixed with clothing did not shorten the drying cycle nearly as much. It also uses very little laundry detergent, but make sure you use a detergent meant for front loaders. Most of the "green" detergents, such as Ecos, are meant to be used with the front loading machines. If you don't have a front loader now and are contemplating buying a new one, I highly recommend this one. My husband installed it himself....it is self-balancing unlike some of the other front-loading models, so it is simple to install. It is also about the size of a regular top-loading washer if you don't use a stand with it. I didn't have room for a stand, so bending down to move the laundry to our (front-loading) drier isn't the most fun part ;-). It plays a nice tinkly little song at the end of the cycle instead of an annoyingly loud buzz.
In honesty, I haven't had the washer long enough to know about any "break-down" types of cons--We have used this for about 15 loads so far, but are completely loving what we have seen thus far.....
