I found the product to be very useful for my needs. I use it to rehearse quietly. I plug it into my Ibanez BTB 5-string bass, plug my iPod into the AUX jack, and plug my earbuds or headphones into the Phones jack. It's extremely mobile. Without it, I was tangled up with several devices plugged into an amp and had to extract myself from a tangle of cables to go answer the phone or whatever. I still have several cables attached, but I can just walk around as much as needed.
The basic function is good - sound is pretty good quality. I didn't care much for the "FX" setting, which tended to sound like an overdriven amp or a "fuzztone", I haven't really experiemented with it to see what else I can coax out of it.
I would buy another if this one breaks. I travel with my work, and this device makes it easy for me to rehearse my bass playing in a hotel room without incurring the wrath of my neighbors.
Try it. It's pretty cool.

I'm a real newbie, just since this past fall, and wanted some way to practice without disturbing my family or neighbors. It could be my earbuds, but I can't even use the 2nd, more distorted setting on this. With the first setting, I can get a sound that's good enough and playing along with my iPod is really convenient. The batteries seem to last. All in all, I'm happy I bought this product! - j
