I use the lens as my general purpose lens, usually shoot architecture and landscapes. Nicely built, quick focus, and consistent output. My only complaint would be the sound it makes when focusing is not as suave as some of the more expensive lenses.

I bought this lens to cary as a back up lens for my S3 Pro. I also use it for accasonal use around the home. The lens is a Nikon and I have never since 1981 been disatisfied with a nikon lens. This lens is no different. I do not see how they can charge so little for this quality.

I got this lens for a small, lightweight, versatile vacation/backpacking lens and was impressed. So impressed I tested it against my Nikon 24mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.8 primes shooting various objects with text (a can of dust off and my computer). It did at least as good as the 50 and better than the 24. I've begun using it on jobs and am overall pleased.

The vibration reduction feature works great and allows me to shoot without a flash when there is one-two stops less available light.

I also have the bigger 17-55mm f/2.8 but for practical uses, this lens is just as sharp. It's great to use with D70s/D90 built-in flash cause it's smaller size means no shadows from the flash.

I have used this lens in many different lighting situations and achieved excellent results. The VR works very well, I use it a 1/20 and 1/15 of a second with no problems.
The only issue is you cannot manually focus it with the lens hood attached. I rarely have to manually focus, it does a great job on it's own, so I don't see this as much of an issue.
Excellent color accuracy.
Abe's of Maine delivered the product as advertised and faster than expected. Great surprise.
