The product is great and works as advertised. Instead of one battery, you can have two at a time. Great for when traveling and aren't always near an electrical outlet. One nifty little thing was there is a storage place for the camera's regular battery door. So if you do decide not use this and want to remove it, the battery door is right with you.

Also, it makes portrait type (taller than wider) pictures a lot easier. I have always been twisting my arms to turn the camera sideways and take the pic. This product has eliminated that.

It does add a little weight, and also does make the camera more bulky. However, if you own a D90 with a few lenses, bulk probably isn't your main concern.

I haven't yet tried it using the 4AA battery caddy that came with it, and hope I don't need to. But it is nice to have it as an option, just in case.

I take it on all my trips... highly recommended!

It's very helpful and provides long-lasting back-up power. The only downside is that it doesn't stay locked very well and the material it is made with feels kind of cheap.

The grip really does become an extension of the camera. I purchased it for my D90 and haven't taken it off since I installed it. It does make the camera heavier and bulkier, but it's a small price to pay for the additional battery life and vertical controls. I do find myself taking many more portrait shots now. The shutter release button is a little mushy as many have said in other reviews, but overall it functional fine.

It gives you an easier grip for those vertical shots. No more changing batteries in the cold. There is plenty of battery power when using this grip with both batteries install, even in the cold. Besides it makes the D80 look like the D3

PRO: I can shoot for hours on end with out having to worry about charging batteries.

CON: Shutter release is a little flaky. If I brush up against the button it turns off the image review (as expected, but it's very sensitive). This unit does add some weight to the camera. If you leave the unit switched on it will drain your batteries even if the camera is off.

This is great for those photography extended outings. Its great if you have big hands and need more to hold onto. Great for shooting vertically as you now have the shutter release and a few other buttons on the battery grip.It kinda balances out the camera if you have any heavy lenses attached. Just wish they would've designed a better battery latch. I would've given it 4 stars if the latch was sturdier. Its take up more space so consider the size of your bag. You might need a new one or reconfigure your gear.

The MB-D80 gives me twice the life of a single battery and a better grip on the camera. Once you use it, you won't want to go without it. It really is a great addition to the camera.

This grip has really made my D80 more comfortable. There's a more balanced feel and quicker access to vertical shots now that I have the battery grip...I'm starting to use my D80 more than my D200!But I love them both...

With well over 300 pics and flashes without charging this purchase was well worth it. I'm able to have my equipment work for me and not the other way around. No need of lugging charger unless you are unsure of how many pics you are going to shoot.

Works well with the D90. It definitely improves the grip. That is why I purchased it. I feel I have a better hold on the camera, especially when using my 70-200mm 2.8. I do wish Nikon used more rubber over-mold on it, however I do not feel comfortable using a third party grip because it links up to the electronics of the body camera. One neat feature is that the body shows you the battery life of each battery in the grip (if you are using 2). The grip also works using one battery.

Adds a nice grip to my D90, better for people with larger hands. Extra battery helps too. Only gripe is the contact design. You will get a low battery error because the middle contact does not connect properly to the body. You can work around it though by either bending teh contact inside the camera for a tight fit or by putting an aluminum foil to extend the contact. Otherwise, nice option for D90 or other DXX users.

I love the MB-D80. It has doubled the amount of pictures I can take before changing batteries. When turned to the vertical shooting position, it becomes an EXTREMELY comfortable grip with most of the cameras controls at your fingertips. The only down side is that it has added quite a bit of weight to my already heavy D80.

I own a third-party veraion and the Nikon version. The Nikon version is worth the extra cost. It works better in every respect and has a much better feel.

I purchased the battery pack / grip for two reasons - to extend the time that I can shoot and not have to recharge my single battery (because the charger allows me to use two batteries) and also for the additional controls available when using it in portrait (vertical) shooting. It is very comfortable grip-wise and the additional shutter release and other dial controls are very nice.
