Use very often, gives a good perspective to your image, can be very docile, and then go crazy wide! Good on even an APS-C Sensor.

Comments about Canon 9518A002 - EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens ( 9518A002 ):

Really fun lens. At full wide angle, you can get amazingly close to your subject. The mild fish-eye distortion all the way out lets you get creative, but once you "zoom" in to about 14mm, the distortion is all but gone. I've found it to be very sharp all the way to the corners. I did a lot of research, comparing this lens to similar (but cheaper) Sigma and Tokina, and decided the Canon was worth the extra bucks, since the other lenses fell apart badly in the corners.

Great lens for outdoors as well is interior shots. And the bokeh is gorgeous.

Comments about Canon 9518A002 - EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens ( 9518A002 ):

Hiking with a small backpack, the Canon Rebel and Canon 10-22mm take little space and weigh next to nothing. Landscape, close-ups to about 9 inches, and coloration are excellent. The lens hood is not necessary unless you are shooting into the sun. This has become my most useful lens for most situations.

Comments about Canon 9518A002 - EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens ( 9518A002 ):

I have EF-S 17-55 and hesitated to get this EF-S 10-22 lens for while. After all, it's a lot of money to pay to get extra 7mm on the wide side. On the other hand, I'm tire of stitching photos together to get wide coverage. And the resulting stitched photos are not of high quality (noticeable seam, exposure difference, etc). This ultra wide angle fixed all that, and a real convenience to have around.

Now about the cons. It's an expensive lens. To make it worse, it's not a true "L" lens but it's got "L" price. Similar lens for the EF mount is the EF 17-40 (a great lens I used to have). It's similarly priced, and in the same ultra-wide classification. Yet the EF 17-40 is L lens. But somehow Canon just refused to make L lens for EF-S, and yet charged the same "L" price.

Don't expect much out of the lens pouch, it is slightly better than a crown royal bag. Apparently they will ship you either Crystal Optics or Nikura filters, so if you care which type you get beware. The cleaning kit should be considered as free, it also isn't much.Still the package is a good value. [...] I would rather see a more useful package of: a real pouch, UV filter, and a lens hood for the same money.

Comments about Canon 9518A002 - EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens ( 9518A002 ):

I really debated whether or not to buy this lens. I have a Canon Rebel XT and was thinking of upgrading to the 5D. I wanted an ultra wide lens, but didn't want to pay the high price of the equivalent EF "L" lens. I have not been disappointed with my choice! This lens is crisp, fast and gives me everything I was looking for in an ultra wide. All the way open it creates a "fisheye" effect, but has the versatility taking "normal" pictures zoomed in. I have since decided to buy a new camera that has an EF-S lens mount instead of the 5D. The way I see it; Canon wouldn't have created the EF-S mount, and quality lenses to fit it, if they weren't planning on keeping them around. I can't wait to see what they come up with next. By the way, the 10-22 is made with the same quality glass as the "L" series lenses. Definitely worth it!
