1.4x II EF-AF Extender ( 6845A004 ) image

(based on 10 ratings)
Brand: Canon
Located in: Photography, Camera Lenses
This tele extender can be used with fixed focal length lenses 135mm and longer (except the 135mm f/2.8 Softfocus lens), and the EF 70-200 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 70-200 f/4.0L, and 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS zoom lenses. Superb optically, it preserves the image quality of the lens it's mounted to and multiplies its focal length 1.4x. Effective aperture is reduced by one f-stop; autofocus is possible on any EOS camera when combined with a lens having an f/4 or faster maximum aperture. The new version II maintains the outstanding optics of the previous version, and adds enhanced weather- resistant construction, and improved anti-reflective surfaces in the barrel.

Comments about Canon 1.4x II EF-AF Extender ( 6845A004 ):

I am using the 1.4 extender with my Canon 50d and my 70-200 2.8IS. I currently use this set-up for football action shots. I love how the 1.4 extender allows me to reach farther across the field. I also plan to use the extender for baseball shots this summer.

Comments about Canon 1.4x II EF-AF Extender ( 6845A004 ):

a nice product from canon. it's good when you want to get a little closer to a subject. i use this with a canon prime efs 300mm f4 and im happy. i cant say for sure as im new to the world of photography but i would say there is a slight amount of degredation in the image quality but its a nice trade off to be able to get closer. for me it works cause the next more expensive lens then mine is WAY out of my budget. so this product allows me to get a little more reach for a fraction of the price. overall im happy with it. we all cant own a canon 500mm lens,or a 300mm f2 for that matter. but with this im a little closer. i think its worth the purchase. and it takes up very little space

Adding this to my 70-200 2.8 IS USM is just what I needed to shoot my kids youth sporting events. Gave me the reach that I needed with the lens.

Comments about Canon 1.4x II EF-AF Extender ( 6845A004 ):

Sports and Landscape. I own the canon 2.0 300mm lens, the 300mm 2.8lens and the 70-300mm canon 2.8mm zoom lens. I have used the extender on all three. Had I purchased the extender first, my assortment of lenses would be different as published 1 stop difference is real. Regardless of the lens you own, this is a must have.

Comments about Canon 1.4x II EF-AF Extender ( 6845A004 ):

The 1.4 Canon extender coupled with the 300mm 2.8 canon lens (which btw I purchased from Abes based on price), provides the most optimal, flexible and light weight sports camera gear combination (with the 7D). Note: I selected the 1.4 over the 2.0 extender based on information on the web. I suggest you do the homework before purchasing.

Comments about Canon 1.4x II EF-AF Extender ( 6845A004 ):

Great focal length and quick focus. It takes a good picture but I was hoping for near perfection. As with other extenders that I've used, there is a hazy border on whites but software pretty much takes care of that after the fact. Workable straight off the card but if you want a really clean shot, it has to be worked with for a few minutes.

Comments about Canon 1.4x II EF-AF Extender ( 6845A004 ):

I attach this to my 70-200 L lens and it allows me to get those shots that are just a little out of range. I would select the 1.4X over the 2.0X as the resulting composition is much better with this lens. I would recommend this to all photographers who want to extend the range of focus without investing in a more powerful zoom.

Unfortunately this product does not auto focus with all cameras. I have a 30D and the auto focus does not work. According to Canon it only works in manual focus for most cameras. Call Canon before ordering to make sure of all the facts before purchasing. Please learn from my frustration.
