Brand: Canon
Located in: Photography, Camera Lenses
Incorporating Canon’s second generation Image Stabilization technology, this telephoto zoom responds in as little at 0.5 seconds, while providing up to three stops of correction for camera shake. Its AF system has been refined for better response time and tracking speed. And even the new 8-blade circular aperture offers a more pleasing out-of-focus image. Constructed to pro standards, this fast zoom is also highly resistant to dust and moisture, too.

Comments about Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS (Image Stabilizer) USM Autofocus Lens:

Simply an amazing lens. It's by far the king of the Canon telephoto zooms. Granted, there is a newer version of this lens just announced (the Mark II) but to me even this lens is more than 99% of the photographers who are looking for this kind of product need and can handle. Sure it's a bit on the heavy side but the pictures it produces are simply amazing. Focusing is lightning fast, lens is obviously quite fast being f/2.8 and Image Stabilization only adds to its usefulness even in fairly low light conditions. This is my most prized lens in my collection. I've owned the f/4 non-IS version and have shot with the f/4 IS version as well. While those have their purposes (and advantages being lighter weight), nothing can still replace this lens for me.

I replaced Canon 70-200 4.0 mm with this 2.8 IS L-lens. This is my second L-lens from Canon. The quick noticeable changes are much better, better performance in low light.

Comments about Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS (Image Stabilizer) USM Autofocus Lens:

There are plenty of "good" lenses out there but this one stands out as a "must have" for any serious enthusiast. It is a little heavy but in this case, because it is an "L" and is built and sealed the way it is, I don't think it could be avoided unless they used a more exotic lighter metal which would drive the price up.Optically, I am always pleased with the quality of the photos this lens takes. You really have to go out of your way to take bad pictures with this lens. This lens never lets me down and I think it is worth the price as it truly delivers.

If you are thinking about this or another 70-200 your search should end here. Granted, it's more expensive, but you truly do get what you pay for. This lens ROCKS! There is currently no lens on the market that is in the same ballpark as this lens. I have used the sigma and tamron models and while both are good lenses, this is GREAT. Is it heavy? Of course. But do you seriously want to complain about an extra pound or two? Since you don't go to they gym enough anyway, you can use this to help build up your forearms, shoulders, biceps and triceps, and your core to help stabilize yourself when you are taking that great shot. Pictures are razor sharp on my 5dmkII. What's not to love? I also put it on my 50d backup and with the crop factor, you really get a great zoom!

Comments about Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS (Image Stabilizer) USM Autofocus Lens:

There's not much to say about this lens that hasn't already been said. It is Canon's top of the line mid-telephoto zoom lens, and Canon really knows how to make great lenses. If you are looking for an SLR lens in this focal length, this is the best that money can buy. It's that simple.

To put it another way, if you are willing to spend this much money on a camera lens, you probably already know why it's worth it. If you are considering buying this lens but don't already know it's the best, then don't buy it. This is an expensive top-of-the-line lens and if you don't already know why, then chances are you won't be able to appreciate its performance. Save you money and get a kit lens of the same focal length.

Comments about Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS (Image Stabilizer) USM Autofocus Lens:

So far, I have nothing bad to say about this lens. It's fast, sharp, stabilized, rugged, and offers great reach for an upgrade. I have the EF-S 10-22mm, EF 50mm f/1.4, and EF-S 18-55 mm (kit)and was looking for a telephoto zoom lens. I was not disappointed. I was considering the 75-300mm DO lens but the f/2.8 really sold me due to the frequency that I find myself trying to take pictures in low light. If you want a telephoto zoom - buy this lens. If you want more reach, for more professional sports/wildlife/etc. photography, get the 300mm, 400mm, or whatever prime lenses - keeping in mind the cost. For me, this was a no brainer, and it covers the spectrum from portraits (great for kids and babies; you're far enough away that you're not too much of a distraction but close enough that they look at you a lot and you can snap the portrait) to most wildlife, sports, candids, scenery, you name it.

Great Lens! It's a little on the high side as far as price goes but It's been worth the $$$ so far. It's also on the heavy side. Make sure you check out the max weight of a tripod if you are using this lens. One other comment that I would like to make is a "Great Job" by Abes of Maine. I have ordered several products from them and never had a problem with them, always right on time and great prices.

I needed a fast low light flashless lense for my sons basketball games. After a few trial runs, I have been able too achieve the resuls I was looking for. Great close up clear detail at 1/500 and higher. Low lighting has not been a problem so far. Also use the lense for casual use with an 2x converter. Able to get the shots I like with out having to get right up to the subject. When used with the converter, auto focus time is slower. Great lense for inside use without the need for flash. Would recomend especially for indoor sports.
