Need a dedicated Nikon portrait lens. Choices are 85f1.4, 105f2DC and 135f2DC for a FX camera. Pick the 105f2DC because its focal length is ok for indoor use. 135mm is a bit too long for that. I have a 24-70 and 85mm seems too close to my zoom range. 24-70 is not for portrait but can be used if I must. If I have the money, all three will be in my bag. :)

This is a wonderful lens. I'm very happy with the results, great colors and bokeh, sharp. I use it mostly in the f2-f4 range. Focuses fine on D90.
The price is a relative matter, in comparison to other nikkors I think the price is justified.

I love this lens for portraits, take a lot of my family. You could take their pics in front of a trash pile and they would come out amazing. Playing with depth of focus is fun. Only negative no motor in lens for auto focus. I have the nikon d60 and can't use auto focus I have to upgrade my camera body apparently.
