The Nikon Standard, Perspective Control (PC) Lens features tilt, shift and rotation capability. A shifting range of 11.5mm width, with a tilting range of 8.5-degrees, provides exceptional perspective control. Incorporating an electromagnetic diaphragm, this lens provides auto Aperture control when used with D3, D700 and D300 Digital SLR cameras for improved operability. Nano Crystal Coat effectively reduces ghosting and flare to provide sharper, more vivid images. All PC-E NIKKOR lens with Perspective Control capability incorporate a special tilt/shift mechanism. The shift mechanism enables the lens to be moved parallel to the image plane, so that subjects such as a tall building can be captured faithfully, without the upper part appearing to tilt backward and become thinner. The tilt mechanism changes the orthogonal relationship between the Optical axis of the lens and the image plane, allowing you to control the focused area. In landscape photography, you can achieve a focus throughout the entire subject plane from near to distant. You can also achieve focus on a specific part of the subject for emphasis. In actual shooting situations, the shift and tilt mechanisms are used together to adjust perspective, Distortion of the subject, and focus area.

Comments about Nikon PC-E Micro 45mm f/2.8D ED Manual Focus Lens:

This is a very complex lens. The adjustments take time to setup, the focus is manual, the f-stop control is manual. This is a lens that can only be used when the camera is on a tripod. The settings, framing of the image, adjustments to the lens take several minutes tweak. thus the need to use a tripod.
This lens works with a Nikon D700, the 24 mm PC-e version can be attached to a D700, but due to the longer pop-up flash portion of the D700, the 24 mm PC-e cannot be rotated 360-degrees which is needed to set the vertical perspective control.
When taking photos, bracket, bracket, bracket.
