I bought converter to go with my 300MM AF lens and I took it on vacation to Alaska and got some nice wildlife and landscape shots.

Comments about Nikon TC-14E 1.4x II Teleconverter for D-AF-S & AF-I Lenses:
I use the converter on a Nikon 300mm vr and it works great images are as sharp as the lens alone. I think the price is a little high but it's a good lens
Comments about Nikon TC-14E 1.4x II Teleconverter for D-AF-S & AF-I Lenses:
I bought this for my Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR. Focus is quick and pics are sharp even wide open. I would recommend this over the TC-1.7 which I also own. I only wish that Nikon had included a pouch for it like the one that came with my 1.7
Comments about Nikon TC-14E 1.4x II Teleconverter for D-AF-S & AF-I Lenses:
Works very well with D90 + 70-200/2.8 VR. Bright, quick focus, nice bokeh, and still sharper than my other zooms without a converter. Not quite as impressive on my F100 full-frame, but still pretty good. Well made, expensive little gadget, no doubt delivering high profits to Nikon, but DX results seem to justify the price relative to other ~300/f4 options if you already have the 70-200 VR.

Used the teleconverter at my sons soccer game yesterday and today. Here is the ONE picture that made it all worth the expense. It was used with the 70-200 f2.8 and I am still amazed at the result.
Comments about Nikon TC-14E 1.4x II Teleconverter for D-AF-S & AF-I Lenses:
Seems a little overpriced for what it is, but it does work as advertised. Unlike some third party TC, its integration is seamless. I suppose if the less expensive alternatives were designed to communicate with my lenses and cameras better I would have purchase one of those. That being said I can't imagine that with the amount of glass and hardware used in this product, that any third party company would have that much difficulty reproducing a comparable alternative. There's not much to it, pretty simple design. Basically you're paying for the proprietary communication and the Nikon name. Unfortunately I can't afford to take chances with my gear and have little margin for error. I'm sure if I didn't make my living with my equipment, I would have had no problem buy one of the other third party alternatives. Which I'm sure would have been fine.

This is a professional grade upgrade. As an amateur photographer I would have been better off buying a zoom lens only because a zoom is versatile and I could have taken pictures of more things with less money, but it sure is cool taking professional pictures. My photos are as good as any I have ever seen “I am 56”.
We use my photos as a desktop that changes every 15 minutes.
It takes a while to get the settings right for the teleconveter, “it is very different”, but after you get it down you can take perfect pictures of birds in flight at a great distance. The birds can be flying a very high rate of speed and still get a great shot.
This teleconveter focuses faster than my eyes can focus.
