Comments about SIGMA 120-400mm /4.5-56 DG OS HSM APO Autofocus Lens for Nikon AF:

I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality of this lens for the exceptionally low price. I will be using it for this year's breeding bird displays in Florida. I needed a lens with more reach and this fit's the bill.

Comments about SIGMA 120-400mm /4.5-56 DG OS HSM APO Autofocus Lens for Nikon AF:

Great lens. Beats existing Nikon 80-400. I hear Nikon is producing a new version of theirs soon so this may not hold up. Faster focus, better VR, less CA -- with my D700 anyway. Have shot with it a couple of weeks and see no immediate negatives -- except weight. Won't autofocus w/1.4 tele converter but works fine. Handheld several shots at 560mm, ISO 800. Close focus for 400mm tele.

I purchased this lens primarily for sports photography. I recently used it in Arizona at several spring training baseball games. The lens performed excellently. It focused accurately and produced clear, crisp images. I am quite pleased with it.

Comments about SIGMA 120-400mm /4.5-56 DG OS HSM APO Autofocus Lens for Nikon AF:

I've only shot a few times with the lens. It's performed quite well so far. The only thing that surprised me was the sound from the stabilizer motor (when turned on), it's louder than I expected (I've used an Nikon VR and it was quite quiet) but is not that big an issue. Considering the Sigma costs at least $300 less for comprable Nikon I'm very pleased.
