The new Sigma 669205 / 669-205 AF 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC macro is a highly anticipated lens especially among Canon users seeking for a higher quality, affordable alternative to the original Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 or EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 USM IS. Bought this lens to replace the standard kit lens Konica Minolta (now Sony) 18-70mm 3.5-5.6 on my Maxxum 7D. Really sharp throughout the zoom range (people report problems at 17mm but not a big deal if you go to f5.6 or higher). So much better than the soft kit lens, it is worth every dollar spent for the upgrade.
