After much research I decided to get this lens over the Canon 100 and even the 180 macros. This lens is just amazingly sharp and the color/contrast is amazing. I could not be happier! Contrary to other reviews stating the focus is slow, this thing focuses super fast. It's a macro, it helps to prefocus to the range you're going to be in. Once there, it does great.

After reading all kinds of reviews on this lens,and looked at other photos taken with it, I knew it was for me. 99% of my photography is shot with a macro lens. A few weeks ago I ordered
one and it's fast,tack sharp and built like a tank! Some people say it's heavy, this does not bother me.This
is a 2.8 lens it has a bigger piece of
glass in it so it can be a fast and let more light in when one is shooting
in low light situations.But all in all
the lens is not that heavy.

Great pictures and great results - only issue is that it will 'search' at times for a focus. It is usually on a white background. Other than that, I am impressed with images.
