Comments about Sigma 18-50mm F3.5-5.6 AF Lens for Canon:

Bought this to replace my Canon Rebel XT's notorious kit lens. Very happy with it. Just two things to keep in mind: 1) be careful when installing the hood, hold the lens by the ring and turn the AF to M. It is very easy to damage the motor because the hood mount is too tight. 2) use smaller apertures to get sharp images. F8 is nice.

Comments about Sigma 18-50mm F3.5-5.6 AF Lens for Canon:

I bought this lens for everyday use. The Canon 28-135mm is a very heavy lens. This lens is compact and light with a metal adapter as opposed to the plastic used by Canon on its kit lens. I don't look at my pictures under a microscope to check for sharpness or all the other things that reviews check out. From my perspective, this inexpensive lens takes great pictures which fully satisfy my photographic needs. It works seamlessly and intuitively with my XSi.

Comments about Sigma 18-50mm F3.5-5.6 AF Lens for Canon:

I bought this lens to use for on site event photography to avoid using my expensive Canon L series lenses which are overkill for this application. Since I use strobe lighting, I didn't need a particularly fast lens, but I wanted something fairly rugged and sharp. This lens seems well suited and at only [$] [...], what a bargain.
