Brand: TAMRON
Located in: Photography, Camera Lenses
The 1.4x teleconverter (also known as a tele-extender) will multiply the focal length of the existing lens by 1.4x, and will cut back the amount of light by one f/stop. For example, using a 1.4x teleconverter with a 300mm lens will effectively increase the focal length to 420mm. A lens set to f/2.8 will now be f/4.

Comments about TAMRON 1.4x SP AF Pro Teleconverter for Nikon:

Using with nikon d5000, tamron 70-300. Result is effective 630mm. Pictures are sharp and in some cases stunning. However, autofocusing is not reliable. 50% of the time it takes a long time to focus (goes long, and short multiple times) or does not focus. Would buy again and would recommend with noted caveats.

Comments about TAMRON 1.4x SP AF Pro Teleconverter for Nikon:

Works good for what it is. That is, a way to 'cheat' and get more range out of a lens. I used it at a major league baseball game with a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 lens on a D300, and got some really great shots. It didn't seam to slow down the autofocus much, and since the sun was out, and I used a fast lens I had plenty of light to work with. There were a few times when the lens didn't want to cooperate with the camera through the converter, but a bit of wiggling seemed to do the trick. I would have prefered the Nikon version, but it won't work with the Tamron lens. (the Nikon converter sticks out to far on the front) But for the money it does a good job, and brings things in a bit closer with only 1 stop of lost light.
