The Nikon R1C1 Wireless Close-Up System (a.k.a. Macro Kit A) is a macro flash solution for i-TTL capable cameras that do not feature a built-in flash (e.g. D2X, D2H/D2Hs, F6). The kit is fully compatible with the Nikon Creative Lighting System and Advanced Wireless Lighting system when used with compatible cameras and/or flashes. The kit's main components consist of the SX-1 Attachment Ring that attaches to the lens filter treads via an adapter ring (included), two SB-R200 wireless macro flash heads, and the SU-800 Commander Unit. This solution enables excellent close-up lighting control with exceptional flexibility and innovative options.

Comments about Nikon R1C1 Wireless Close-Up Speedlight Flash System with Commander SU-800:

This does what is expected to do. Flash for macro photography. A bit clumsy to set up the ring around the lense filter thread, and to carry it on the camera, but flash does its job. Single flash makes prominent "yes, this is from flash" shadow, but this ring flash doesn't. Filter gel included in the system is also very useful to blend in with the ambient light. Lastly, but not least, GET R1C1 instead of R1 EVEN if your camera or SB800/900 do have commander capability. The Controler unit put on the hot shoe is soooo easy to use and control 3 groups of flash on the fly. I would never go back to use my D700 commander mode. I also have SB600 and SB900 together with three (yes, I added another one) SB-U200 with this set and my lighting system is almost complete. Again, regardless whether you are into macro photo or not, this one is very convenient even for the party portrait. Highly recommended.
Umn, one caveat may be that the box is huge, which has its own bag to tidily put in all the R1C1 equipment in one neat but bulky black box. I have put it away in the closet and put the system (only the parts I use) into much smaller bag nearby.
