Comments about Canon EOS 40D SLR Digital Camera Body:

Use of a Pop-up Shade helps with the LCD especially in the sun. Bought this after I lost the 20d. Find the 40d a nice step above my 30d and have now moved that to the back-up position. Resolution very good and, although considered the 50d, decided to go with the 40d instead.

Comments about Canon EOS 40D SLR Digital Camera Body:

I recently upgraded from the 20D to the 40D, and I am thrilled. I had issues with the 20D and the images not being perfectly sharp, but so far the 40D does not seem to have the same issue. I took some portraits of a little 2 year old who was on the move the entire, time but the pics came out vibrant and crisp. I loved the feel of the camera in my hand, it seems a little bigger than the 20D, which actually makes it easier to hold. Not to mention it makes you feel like a real photographer. Overall, the amount of camera you get for your money is unbelievable and I highly recommend this camera to any one interested in photography.

Comments about Canon EOS 40D SLR Digital Camera Body:

The 40D is a great little backup camera for any Pro. It's reasonable in low light situations... and maintains excellent IQ even at higher ISO. This is incredibly important to me as a wedding photographer.

Paired with the BG-E2N, it's a little performance workhorse.

I recommend the 40D over the 50D. There isn't enough of a low light improvement (and some test show the 50D is WORSE in low light) to warrant the added cost.

Comments about Canon EOS 40D SLR Digital Camera Body:

This is my first step up into the digital SLR category, from a point-and-shoot. The difference is amazing. Already have some great shots of my daughter running around the backyard with her dog that I got with the 6.5 fps "sport" mode. This camera is a lot of fun, but more importantly a great device that is easy to learn and use. And Canon Image Stabalization lenses can't be beat.

Comments about Canon EOS 40D SLR Digital Camera Body:

I bought this camera as to upgrade from my Canon Digital Rebel XT. It is an excellent overall camera. Very solid with well postioned controls. It has a world of features and a nice big LCD screen. It feels great in your hands. I really like having the control wheel in the back as with my old EOS 1 Film camera.

The only cons are that the camera is heavy and you do have the 1.6 crop factor.

Comments about Canon EOS 40D SLR Digital Camera Body:

I photograph weddings, shoot portraits, and teach photography at a public HS.

Great in low light (although the 50D improves on it). The 40D is incredible upto an ISO of 400, is still excellent at 800, and most clients feel 1600 still look awesome (a trained eye can see noise at 1600).

I do prefer a full frame, but this is an excellent camera for the price. Highly recommend it.

Comments about Canon EOS 40D SLR Digital Camera Body:

I highly recommend this camera! My only complaints are that the features are somewhat cumbersome and hidden. The photo quality is excellent and given the high resolution, large prints turn out great.

The body is easy to grip, although it is a bit weighty. This is just a minor gripe!

I am very pleased with this camera!

Comments about Canon EOS 40D SLR Digital Camera Body:

I'm an advanced non professional photographer, though I have done some weddings and business portraits. This is my third digital SLR. Like Photoshop, the camera does more than I need to do. The photographs are great. It is complicated to learn, but no more so than similar digSLRs by other makers. It gets heavy if you carry it around all day. Excellent camera.

Comments about Canon EOS 40D SLR Digital Camera Body:

As a consulting Engineer, I take a lot of photos to document physical evidence in demanding conditions, such as fire and accident scenes. I'd been using the Canon Rebel series since moving to digital a few years ago, with very good results, figuring I'd just throw them away once they stopped working. But, none of them have failed me- they just get dirty and need cleaning every now and then. I moved up the Rebel line when new products were introduced because the new features were attractive. The 40D was attractive because of it's improved environmental sealing - but I have to say that the solid feel, as well as the features have won me over to the mid level Canons. Now, I'm yearning for the 5DII, as the extra pixels appeal to me for aerial photography, as well as expanded features. The 40D is a keeper, though. No regrets at all. The price/performance ratio is still the highest of anything out there.

Comments about Canon EOS 40D SLR Digital Camera Body:

I use my camera quite a lot as a carry around in my travels all over the world. This was a trade up from the excellent Rebel XT, and I paired the 40d with the 24-105 L series lens. With this combination I have seen significantly better results in terms of clarity, contrast, focus accuracy and ease of use. I also like the larger display better than the XT. I chose this over the newer Rebel Xsi on the advice of a professional due to the 40d's superior, though lower resolution, sensor. I have been very happy with its low light capabilities and the over all adaptability and usability of the camera. I wish it was sealed for rough weather like the 1D, but so far it has held up to a variety of unfriendly conditions. For a 1.6 crop factor camera, I really do not think one could do better.
