Comments about ION Audio TAPE 2 PC - USB Cassette to PC Tape Archiver:
Works great with Audacity (on a Mac) - I didn't try the software that ships with the unit. Archiving OLD cassettes of my high school band and choir concerts on CDs. Controls are just like a standard cassette deck, EXCEPT for the Gain (volume) control, which is on the back of the unit, for some reason. The recording was clipping badly until I read the manual (duh) and learned where the gain control knob was located. Sound is fine. I would like to see a counter for deck A as well as deck B; would save time cueing up the tape.

Comments about ION Audio TAPE 2 PC - USB Cassette to PC Tape Archiver:
Using the product to convert archival 30-40 yr old taped interviews to MP3 files.
It's perfect for my 80 year old Dad to use, because the conversion is a very simple procedure. BUT, step-by-step specific instructions for audio settings on iTunes could be clearer, as well as an explanation of the differences between the different types of digital sound files (AAF, WAV, MP3, etc)- such as how much space they take up! Had to use MP3, the WAV files were enormous.
For my Dad's purposes, it would be good to have a similarly easy-to-use product that skips the digital conversion step, and just transfers the audio from cassette to CD.
Comments about ION Audio TAPE 2 PC - USB Cassette to PC Tape Archiver:
It easily allows you to make MP3s from your cassettes. Main advantages - easy to use, static reduction setting. Main disadvantages - no quick or automatic setting; you have to listen to the entire cassette in real time, turning off recording when it has finished. Also, the unit seems somewhat cheaply made, but it is working fine.
Comments about ION Audio TAPE 2 PC - USB Cassette to PC Tape Archiver:
Use the product once to show yourself not to buy another like it. There is nothing great about it except for the concept of USB interfacing. The software is poorly conceived and written - it does not take several things into account and insists on taking a single minded track towards assuming the tape you are converting is of commercial origin. No means exist for skipping steps which are not applicable like looking up songs in an online databse - many tapes one might wish to convert are homemade and perhaps of non-musical context. Bad bad bad.
