I'm new to the whole recording thing but the quality that I get from the MobilePre is awesome. I have been using it with Ubuntu 08.10 and it is worked practically out of the box. I think I have to tweak it a little but it's more of a ubuntu thing with the program I'm using (Audacity). The quality is great, though, and I would definitely recommend it for amateur recording.

The MobilePre is one of the most useful interfaces available. I am able to plug two mics into the back of the device and control it's volume in the front. It has phantom power which powers the condensor mics. It provides great sound and improves home recordings.

This is the first computer interface I have used, and it set up without a hitch. -works well with the 2 different recording software packages I have. Very logically laid out. Phantom power works great for the mike. I have also used it for electric guitar, acoustic electric guitar, and 2 different synths. Sound quality is very good for the price.
