Here is my review of the Audio Technica AT0241SP Studio Pack recently purchased from Abe's of Maine. These condensor mics are great microphones, though they are a bit bright, in my home studio the vocals I recorded sounded very good.
As I had a live gig with my acoustic band, I decided to take both of these mics along for a live sound test. The band consists of a fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and guitar-the AT2020 was used on my mandolin and the AT2021 was used on the fiddle-these mics excelled on the fiddle & mandolin!.
These AT mics are very hot-there was a lot of output and the sound was really full through the sound system ( which was a Carvin PA620 powered mixer and 2 cabinets with 15" speakers and hi/midrange horns) and the AT2020 was great with the mandolin-it gave the sound a solid tone and a more dimensional sound that a dynamic mic couldn't come close to.
The gig was a cool one-it was a Civil War Grand Ball reinactment and all of the dancers were dressed in era costumes-the men in either Union or Confederate soldier gear and the women in elaborate gowns and dresses with hoop skirts. This is the 3rd year we have played for this Ball and it's always a great time! Some photos I took are below--

I'm putting together a project studio and was looking for a pair of mics to get off the ground. I had read that this pair of mics (one small and one large-diaphragm condenser) were comparable to more expensive models in the $300-500 range, and so far I've been favorably impressed. The large-diaphragm condenser gives me bright, present vocals without noticeably hyping any frequencies in particular. I haven't had a chance to experiment with the small-diaphragm condenser, but it appears to be well-made. My only complaint would be that the vocal mic doesn't ship with a shock mount, but at this price it's still a good value. Recommended for those starting out or on a budget. Get a pair for stereo mic setups!

i've used a few different mics between the $60 and $300 range and quite frankly theres no difference. if you know what your doing you can get a great sound out of any of them.[...] it would be a crime to buy this package from any other site!!!!! you wont find it cheaper anywhere. i've done the research and this is by far the best mic for the price. why buy a more expensive mic? this one works just fine. i will be buying 1 more. for sure!!!!!!!! THE ONLY REASON I DIDN'T GIVE THIS MIC THE PERFECT SCORE IS BECAUSE I HAVENT TRIED EVERY MIC ON THE MARKET, BUT I DONT SEE ANY REASON TO.
