Comments about CAD Mics GXL2400 Large Diaphragm Studio Condenser Microphone:
I use this for my home recording studio, and I have no regrets in acquiring it. It has a better low end, more mellow-warm response than the GXL3000, too, which I prefer. A pop filter is a good addition, too, but if you can keep the mouth to mic distance at 12" or more, then the filter is not as much a requirement. Bottom line: very good mic for the dollar, reliable, quiet, good response, very sensitive, econmical!
I do not recommend this type of mic for performance/gig work, unless you have a full time sound man watching things - it is too sensitive on stage - easy to get feed back and sometimes too much of a mix of unwanted sounds. And I worry about its ability to take abuse; this is not as bullet proof as a Shure SM58. But aside from that, I am glad to have it in my arsenal!
