Comments about RODE K2 - Tube Mic:
I have recordings I made in a studio using a Rode Classic. I have a very good ear and could not tell any difference between the two microphones from listening to the two recordings. I am very happy the purchase. The microphone is not light weight, but I was only concerned with the quality of the sound. I am totally satisfied with the quality of the recording and the K2 is reasonably priced. The Classic was over $1,000 more.

Comments about RODE K2 - Tube Mic:
I use this mic for vocals and classical flamenco guitar. It is rich sounding with a smooth detailed sound, and with the multi patterns, it's a fantastic deal. One thing, do yourself a favor and change out the tube. Get an amperex 6922 or bugleboy. I also have an older brimar tube I have not tried out yet because I am happy with the amperex, but the amperex or the bugleboy seems to be what everyone recommends. With the amperex tube, it now sounds nicer all across the spectrum. Cleaner tighter lows, detailed mids and shimmering highs that's not over hyped. Sounded great before the tube swap, but now even better. Alot people want to bash this mic because it is not perfect for there voice, well there is no mic out there that is perfect for "all" vox... period.. This mic sounds excellent for my friends deep and mid range pronounced vox,and handled the ssss very well. I have also recorded dumbek and golpe "claps" and the sound was warm, detailed, and very musical.
If you are looking for a great multi pattern tube mic, there are many of them out there, but this one is definetley worth the money, and your recordings will sound great.

Sounds great on classical music, I mostly record cello with it. Really noble warm sound without getting muddy.
