Just used this for lead and backup vocals, as well as acoustic guitar. For male vocals and lower female vocals, this mic is INCREDIBLE

Comments about Studio Projects B1 Studio Microphone:

I've just had these a few months, so I'm still learning what they're good for-

So far, I've tracked vocals and acoustic guitars, and used them as a stereo pair for room mics and drums. As far as I can tell, they've performed incredibly well for the price tag. Drums sound great, guitars too. Vocals worked but required some experimentation with settings and some adjustment after. But not much, and like I said, great deal! I've used a C3000 quite a bit, and while that is a slightly more brittle sound, with more highs, the B1 compares very favorably at a fraction of the price (so far so good!).

Though having pads and low filters will probably be useful, I've chosen not to use them so far. They do come with cheap but usable shock mounts (major plus).

One con- while they are provided with nice boxes, the boxes are made to fit a number of sizes of mics, which means they're actually too big for the B1, and quite bulky. Seems a waste of space, though it does seem to do a good job of protecting them anyway, as far as I can see.

I bought it to replace an RE20 that went bad, and it works about as well as the RE20 did, which is saying something. I record in my home studio for a radio network in New York and thus far had no complaints.

Comments about Studio Projects B1 Studio Microphone:

Unfortunately, I have only used this mic a couple of hours in the fews months I own it. I plugged it into a Yamaha GO46 firewire interface. Sound is good but a little bassy. I used 'Audacity' to record because 'Cubase LE' (that came with my GO46) is so frustratingly complicated! Recorded acoustic guitar (sounds very good) and scratch vocal - that's as far as I got. Bottom line: it would be a fine mic if I actually used it.
