Comments about AKG CK91 Blue Line Cardioid Capsule:
Clearly this is not the least expensive option out there, and keep in mind this is just the capsule (you need the SE300B preamp unit as well, which more than doubles the cost). That said, I haven't seen a better mic for live sound or recording apps.
I have been using five of these these (along with the SE300B preamp) for over five years and only had to replace one (just the CK 91, not the preamp). My guess is that someone dropped it one time too many, but I don't know for sure.
Bottom line, go for it if they're in your budget. The sound quality is well worth the money.
