Comments about AKG K702 - Headphones:

I purchased my K702's to use in Professional Reference Situations (ie - Film Post, Recording, Mastering).

In my search for a pair of Professional Circumaural, Dynamic, Open-Back Reference Headphones, I narrowed my search to two models. The Sennheiser HD650's and the AKG K702's respectively.

After demoing the HD650's I ultimately chose the K702's for 3 main reasons.
1 - The HD650's are known to be extremely fragile and break easily.
2 - I felt the specs on the K702's were substantially better to warrant trying them even without demoing the product
3 - The cable disconnect on the K702's is a mini-XLR, making them far more field serviceable.

I would recommend the K702's to any Audio Engineer in the market for a pair of Studio Reference Headphones.

Comments about AKG K702 - Headphones:

Will require about 100 hrs of break in time for it to sound perfect. Out of the box will sound too rough and sharp. You kinda wish all your headphones sound like this when you use your portable headphones on the go. You are now spoiled.

Comments about AKG K702 - Headphones:

There are several models of headphones in this class--i.e. reference class headphones. These are perhaps the best value of the bunch. They do require some break-in so be prepared. When mature, these are really fantastic sounding and comfortable cans. They are not so much of a power pig as the Senn hd-650's and can be driven (albeit not to their best) with an ipod. They are slightly on the euphonic side of neutral but they remain very detailed nonetheless, making for a very enjoyable listening experience. Not as potent at the freqency extremes as the Senheiser hd-650's but the slightly mellow, mellifluent audiophile sound will make up for it for some listeners. Unequivocally the best value for the money of high ends cans. Get a good headphone amp and be prepared for audio bliss.

Comments about AKG K702 - Headphones:

I've been working with music for years now, in many
different aspects, from professional playing and
engineering, to working in the business and lots
of tech work. Over the years i have used several
different headphones, and i have never had this
reaction before. it was always not a favorite of
mine having to use the dreaded cans, but not anymore.

Simply AMAZING.

The second i put these on, there was an ear to
ear smile!

Dont wait, you need these if you are serious
about great sounding, accurate recordings.
