Comments about ZOOM RC4 - Remote Control for H4n:
Could have used it the first time I recorded an event. Instead, I had to run up to the stage to make adjustments

Comments about ZOOM RC4 - Remote Control for H4n:
The RC-4 should have come with the H4N even if Zoom bumped up the price, it's that good. My usual recording situation prior to getting the remote was to leave the H4N in Record mode for an entire set so I wouldn't miss anything. The trouble with that is all the wasted time editing on the computer finding songs. With the RC-4 life is easy: it mirrors the control pad on the H4N so I just press "Rec" once to set levels, then again to record, and then "Stop" at the end of a song. As long as I remember to go through the motions everything's fine....
The RC-4 has LED's that indicate what input is functioning, and when Record is in level setting mode or Record mode. The Input indicators also are tri-colored: Green for normal status, Orange for high input sound levels, and Red for clipping. With the Volume and Record Level keys adjustments are just a button push away.
Two things to mention. The cord attached to the RC-4 is 2 meters long, but Zoom also provides a 3 meter extension cord, which gives you about 15 feet - a real plus. This last item is purely cautionary: String some yellow or red bread ties or small strips of Post-It notes to the cord...the more obvious the better...that way neither the H4N or the RC-4 won't go "Zooming" off to a date with gravity when you forget where the cord is....don't ask how I know.....
