Needs easier instructions and a larger mem card
Comments about Fostex MR-8 mkII Digital Multi-track Recorder:
The mr-8 mkii is a nice compact machine great for learning home recordings or doing live stuff, is also good for studio rehearsals to keep songs in memory for future recordings .Although is limited as to how many inputs you can record at the same time is delivers a good clear sound depending on the integrity of the instrument and equipment you use it with, all in all I am happy with it and I look forward to a lot of projects to accomplish.

Comments about Fostex MR-8 mkII Digital Multi-track Recorder:
The Fostex MR-8 mkII Digital Multi-track Recorder is a great compromise between the totally portable micro-recorders and a multitrack home studio unit.
My requirements for the home studio were:
- Multi-track unit large enough to provide sliders and obvious controls
- Supply phantom power via XLR connection for external mics
- Export easily to CD
- Utilize standard (and large) memory that is readily available
For portability I required:
- Internal microphone
- Battery power
- Reasonably small size
- Lighted display
This unit meets these disparate requirements, and I am pleased with the operability and resulting sound quality. I have used a 32-channel Korg in the past, and found the operating concepts of this unit similar. True, the manual has you bouncing around a bit to get from initial recording to the final stage of burning a CD, but I find the unit operation pretty intuitive. While the internal mic is not advertised as recording quality, it does a decent job, and is very convenient. The preamp is a bit weak, so you need to crank the gain a lot, but I did not detect any saturation. I am pleased with the purchase and would recommend this unit.
