Great value, excellent image, unit runs very hot and when powered down fan only runs for 5 seconds which is not adequate for long term reliability.

I have used this projector on blackout cloth and a diy fiberboard screen. The projector looks awesome on both. Blu Ray is clear and clean. Easy to use menu. If you are considering 1080p projector, don't hesitate anymore. Grab an Optoma HD20.

I bought this project for the 2010 Superbowl. WOW, what a great picture. I previously owned an Optoma DLP project but not HD. This one is great for the price. I had to buy a larger screen to support the 16:9 ratio. I am currently watching the Masters Golf tournament and it is awesome. I have since purchased a Blu-Ray disk player and also, great results (addicting!!).

I feel like I own my own movie theater! I have had my HD20 for over a month and I keep saying, "I love this!" as we watch HD TV, movies, and Gaming. It even makes analog signals look great (but it rocks with HD). It is bright enough to be crisp in the middle of the day with only the shades drawn. We project on a 100 inch screen so I can't speak for larger images. My most amazing experience yet was watching True Blood in Blu-Ray and we could see each bead of sweat & individual hair (even chest stubble). It is just a WOW moment everyday. It has no speakers, but we had our previous LCD TV hooked into a speaker system and the HD20 has integrated easily into our existing sound set-up. We were able get the HD20, 25 ft HDMI cable, 25 ft VGA cable, and 25 ft Component Video cable, 100 inch 16:9 ratio manual pull screen (AccuScreen), and ceiling mount all for under $1250 [...] (some, but not all of these items were purchased from Abe's). This gave me everything I needed to hook-up, mount and project my PS3, Wii and XBox 360 all in HD excellence! Set-up was easy. We only tweaked a few settings and we were ready. I have a friend that has a 55 inch DLP traditional set that cost her over $2,500 and she is green with ENVY. My picture is just as good, my image is twice the size, and I spent half as much money!

I bought the Optoma HD20 as my first 1080p projector and received it in good shape. I had previously purchased a mount for it and all went smooth. I had a great experience with a previous Optoma front projector, so I waited and checked the reviews and then purchased. One note you may need to purchase a larger projection screen in that the image was 1 foot larger on both sides (probably in that last projector was 4:3 native aspect ratio). I bought and received in plenty of time for the Super Bowl. All attended were amazed by the large and extremely cris picture. I have also watched a movie on it as well and it was great!! I really recommend this product especially when it is below $1K.
