recently the machine cannot transition from "grind mode" to "brew mode". The gears just continue to click and churn until you intervene. opening and closing the filter basket a few times seems to do the trick.

We love this coffee maker! It is easy to use & make a great tasting cup of coffee. The only 'con' is that the metal craft gets cold quickly, so you must adjust the settings to make the machine stay on longer & not automatically shut off after brewing.

Comments about Cuisinart DGB900BC - Grind and Brew Thermal Coffeemaker:

I like the fact that I can load beans in the hopper on top for several pots of coffee. I don't want to measure beans each morning. One thing you do need to remember is to take off the hopper and clean the canal for ground coffee about every 30 brews. It does get clogged. I'm sure my humid Florida climate makes it worse. Otherwise, it is is a worry free product.

Aside from requiring a brief cleanout of fine grounds once a week or so, it's virtually carefree. It's easy to clean, easy to fill (both water and beans), and makes great coffee! I love it!

Comments about Cuisinart DGB900BC - Grind and Brew Thermal Coffeemaker:

Had the old style DGB-600BC which lasted about 5 years with everyday use. It eventually began to leak. It made great fresh grind/brew coffee by timer. I almost purchased the same model again but after checking the what's available these days I got the DGB-900BC.

This one cleans better, and unlike the old model, the grinder section no longer gets wet, so you don't have to clean the grinder section after each use. After brewing about 20 pots, the grinder was only lightly dusted with dry grinds, and basically clean.

Also, the coffee aroma seems to be a bit stronger during the grinding and brewing process. I might guess the bur grinder releases more aromatics then the old style's blade grinder.

Very user friendly directions. Only needed one try to achieve a 'great' cup of coffee. I don't miss the two step procedure from a separate grinder to the pot ... life is definitely better! I am fairly new to using beans .. used store bought ground coffee for many, many years ... now, I know what I've been missing. Retired and have also found the perfect cup of coffee... sweet!

My husband and I just love our Grind and Brew. We have a small kitchen with little counter space. The Grind and Brew does not take up a lot of space and we do not have to have a separate grinder for our coffee beans. Every pot of coffee is excellent and the thermal coffee pot keeps the coffee hot at least three hours, it could be longer we just have not tested it yet. We would recommend the Grind and Brew to everyone.

Huge improvement over the old model. The grinder is quieter, grinds to better consistency/efficiency, easier to clean and you don't have to fill the beans every day. Plus the water indication level is on the outside of the unit.

Comments about Cuisinart DGB900BC - Grind and Brew Thermal Coffeemaker:

It works like advertised. Setting up the night before is a breeze. Was nervous about other reviews complaining about cleaning time. But not much different from using a Bunn where we ground the coffee. Also think some reviewers were using an older model. Seems like it uses a lot of beans, but found setting it for "mild" uses about the same as we used before and the taste is good. When someone wants it stronger, the capability is there. We've used all the settings. We use it daily and cleaning once a week appears to be enough. Had it about a month and no problem so far with moisture clogging things up. And the "brain" that keeps it from working if you haven't cleaned out the filter is a good idea. Too bad it doesn't tell you if you forgot to totally empty the pot. Love having coffee in the morning. Grinding is pretty loud, but hasn't disturbed us sleeping in the next room.

Comments about Cuisinart DGB900BC - Grind and Brew Thermal Coffeemaker:

We have had this coffee maker for nearly a month. We use it daily, if not twice daily. It took a little getting used to, making sure we had the machine programmed correctly and waking up to the noise in the morning. However, we are pleased. The grind is consistent, the coffee is piping hot, and so far, every pot tastes great. We are definitely impressed with how warm the coffee stays, even hours after brewing. I would recommend this coffee pot.

Comments about Cuisinart DGB900BC - Grind and Brew Thermal Coffeemaker:

I search for a replacement to my Cuisinart Grind & Brew Thermal DGB-600BC and the DGB900BC was the best choice out there. The new grinding design is much more practical as the previous model. This model also allows you to choose the strength of your cup of coffe. The only negative thing I can think of is the opening to pour the water in. It is kind of narrow and I learn that if you miss it, the water would drip into the grinder.

Comments about Cuisinart DGB900BC - Grind and Brew Thermal Coffeemaker:

I use this product only on the days that I am off work. It is more complicated to set up than previous versions of this product. That is due to the new strength selection feature. It's not too difficult, just more than my previous grind and brew. The grind is quieter which is good. I like the large hopper that holds several days of beans. It also seems to be much easier to keep clean compared to the previous version. It is a great product and I would buy it again.

Comments about Cuisinart DGB900BC - Grind and Brew Thermal Coffeemaker:

I use this cofee maker everyday, with fresh, whole beans.

Brewing time is reasonable and the carafe keeps the brew nice and hot.

But I have some quibbles: (1) It does not make a good strong cup of coffee, as I like it, without fooling it. I set it on "strong" at 12 cups worth of grinding, and I only put enough water in for six cups. This works well. (2), it's more complex to perform daily cleaning than it needs to be, and (3), you have to turn the carafe darn near upside down to poor, and it poors very slowly. I find myself just taking the lid off a lot of the time. You simply cannot use the carafe to fill the machine with water. I use a small pitcher.

I am aware of nothing else like it on the market for the price, so I am mostly happy with it and would recommend it to others.

Comments about Cuisinart DGB900BC - Grind and Brew Thermal Coffeemaker:

So far this model is just wonderful. Had an earlier model that wouldn't let you get the grinder unit out. Had to pry it out with a knife or spoon. We had the previous one for years so guess we all wear out a little after an extended time. The new one has so many nice features, especially the large hopper for beans. The coffee tastes better when using gold filter, but a little more work. We switch off between gold and paper. All in all, this is such a nice unit. Really can't think of what else could be added. Haven't had this one very long but am optimistic that it will continue to serve us for years

This is a great coffee maker and fits our needs well. The stainless steel carafe keeps the coffee at drinking temperature without the 'boil down' like regular styles of coffee makers.

We like the coffee this machine produces and it's a good looking contraption, but it requires a lot of fiddling around -- lots of little steps and parts that have to be set up for it to work right. Once you learn the routine, however, the good coffee is worth it.

We used this twice so far and every time the coffee is weak. We use Starbucks Sumatra beans which is bold coffee. Set the strength to strong, grinder to 10 cups and only put in 8 cups of water. Still weak. Cleaned the hopper, still weak. Used a paper filter instead of gold, weak. We're returning it.

Otherwise, the coffee pot is awesome!

Fabulous coffee-you choose the blend and strength. Easy to clean-I had another Cuisinart with blade grinding and it was hard to clean and didn't grind as well as the burr grinder on this one.

Easy to program and the coffee stays hot most of the day even though there is no warming plate. Pours slow but not too bad.

Only problem is filling the water module as the carafe is not designed to pour without spilling-I use a pitcher and it works fine.

Comments about Cuisinart DGB900BC - Grind and Brew Thermal Coffeemaker:

This is my third Cuisinart G&B! Previously, I had the other two (older) styles. Each time, they make improvements. The only beef I have with this design is that the small opening where the ground coffee drops into the brew basket is still hard to clean out...but a HUGE improvement over the old metal grinder. Coffee tends towards strong, I keep mine in mild, and it's OK (even though I generally prefer medium to strong coffee). I brew about 8 cups in the am, and that takes about 6-8 minutes...I really don't know or care, since my thermal G&B has ground and brewed my coffee and has it waiting when I get up!
