468-42 Moka Brew Coffeemaker - What does the Moka Brew do that drip coffee makers can't do? It uses natural steam pressure to extract the full coffee flavor rather than just heating water and allowing it to drip down through ground coffee. Like an italian stovetop maker, this electric device employs a similar technique but makes it simpler, foolproof. The water heats in the lower chamber. Then begins to produce steam bubbles which rise to the top of the chamber and push the water down. As the water is pressed down, the only way to escape is through the tubes running up the sides of the machine. Under pressure, the water travels up, through the tube and into the filter basket.

Comments about Krups F468-42 Moka Brew 8-Cup Coffee Maker:

I appreciate good coffee, but, when my old coffee maker died, I skimped a bit and bought a medium-grade coffee maker... I thought that coffee was coffee, and didn't believe that one coffee maker could make a cup significantly better than that produced by any other. I quickly realized, after little use of my new coffee maker, that I was horribly mistaken. While looking for a replacement for my replacement, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon the Krups Moka Brew.

It took a lot of reading before I bought into the hype, especially since this machine costs nearly 5 times what I had ever paid for a coffee maker before, but I have no regrets about my purchase. After the first cup, I was completely hooked. The coffee produced by this maker is rich, and full of flavor. Like no other coffee maker I've ever used, drinking coffee made from this machine leaves absolutely no dust or grit in the cup--it's sometimes hard to tell whether a recently used coffee cup has actually been used.

I would, without hesitation, purchase another Krups Moka Brew in the future.

No surprises here with this steam-driven coffee maker. The result is a full, rich-tasting brew. This is not french-press quality but it is better than drip.

This coffee maker comes the closest to being able to make good coffee at home that I have found. The flavor was good the first time I made it.
