I'd been looking for a steamer with the double handles after my last one died and they are hard to find. It was bigger than I thought but we steam a lot of vegetables so it's great to have plenty of room. It's easy to clean and heats up more quickly than my other pots. I've found that I use it to steam and also use it just for the pot since it's such a good size.

This little steamer set is both versatile and practical. When you have a limited budget and limited space, this set will perform several tasks without adding more appliances to your kitchen pantry to store and to clean. 1)It is great for steaming vegetables. Try eating a diet that is three-fifths vegetables and fruits and see how much better you feel! Stop cooking when just barely done so that color and freshness will be preserved. If you want juices of anything to be retained in this set, just place a piece of parchment in the bottom of the steamer over the holes. The steam will still cook the food, but nothing will be lost. 2)Try heating up leftovers with steam. Delicious. Smells and tastes better than the microwave 3)Try giving bread that is slightly stale a new life. My great-grandmother used to do this, and the bread tastes great...at least if it was good when it was first baked. 4)You can use the bottom of the steamer alone for reductions or whenever you need a small saucepan.
In conclusion, I have used this steamer for several years almost daily, and I recently ordered one for my daughter in Mississippi. She is enjoying it. Sometimes these little humble -looking pans can be the most useful and practical for every-day cooking.

This steamer is faster than the aluminum steamer I had so adjust accordingly. It has a substantial feel (weight) so may not apply to the single serving (thought is works beautifully). Also the picture is wrong. The basket has two grab handles instead of one long handle.
