This is the 2nd Krups Kettle that we bought. The first one died 7 days after the warranty of 1 year had expired. We have the toaster of the same series and therefore wanted to have the matching kettle again. The unit looks nice, is sturdy, boils water well and is easy to use and handle. The lit on/off switch as well as the automatic shut off feature works well. However over time the lid becomes more difficult to remove and also the plastic cover that is covering the chute during the boiling process can get stuck inside the lid. Krups no longer includes the anti scale filter/screen which needs to be bought separately.

About 4 years ago I bought the same item only in black since that was all that was offered at the store. After remodeling kitchen, black looked out of place. Hesitated to spend money just "to match" but.... after 6 months I decided to do so and bought exact same item only in stainless & white. Didn't even look at other brands. I like the spout screen that removes mineral particles. One we used at work didn't have that - so I donated my black on to the office!

I loved my other Krups kettle...after many years it just died...this one is heavier..thick handle..very difficult when one has arthritus..very noisy..actually noisier than my last one when it was on its last legs. It is just clumsy, and clunky...I don't doubt that it is well made but I am truly sorry I bought it.
