My husband and I have both been using it for our own projects him beef jerky and me fruit. It has worked great very. Quiet and pretty fast, dries evenly. It can go in the dishwasher but make sure you turn the heat dry off just let the trays air dry.

This is the first dehydrator I have had so I don't have anything to compare it too. However, it did seem to dry the food quickly and there is a lot of space especially with the extra trays that I purchased. I rotated the trays a bit during the process but I don't even think that was necessary. The temperature control is essential in my opinion and I wouldn't want one without that.

It's a little bulky but that's somewhat unavoidable. I wouldn't say it's much quieter than my old circular unit was, but I can fit over 2 lbs. of ground meat on the 4 included trays and have jerky in 6.5 hours. The square trays give me a lot of usable space compared to my old circular dehydrator, and the 700 watts dries twice as much meat in about 30% less time. The adjustable temperature control is marked for various foods and makes it very versatile. I bought it for jerky, but my wife makes fruit rolls for the baby and is now growing her own herbs to dry. I researched most models and retailers before purchasing this one from Abe's at the lowest price I've seen.
