I bought this product even though I already had a smaller food dehydrator. The Gardenmaster Pro Dehydrator has the capablities of drying from 1 to 20 trays of food at one time. But the BEST feature is that it can be digitally programmed. I set the controls for the drying temperature and the drying time before I went to bed. After the time period ended the unit automatically shut off so when I woke up in the morning my parsley was dried perfectly. It worked great for drying onions and peppers from my garden. I'm going to try apples this week.

I always overplant tomatoes in the summer after a winter of tasteless store bought ones. Hating to lose any of my crop, I dry pound after pound into "sun-dried tomatoes" and powdered tomatoes. That way I get that real tomato flavor through the winter to hold me until I can plant again. I love the drying power of this dehydrator and it is convenient to use. The digital settings are the best new feature! I love it!

I bought this product with some hesitancy because not all the reviews for it were consistent. I am very pleased that I followed my instincts and bought it anyway. I have been using it daily for almost a week now drying tomatoes from my vegetable garden. I even learned in the process that fresh dried tomatoes are even better than candy!!!! This product is easy to use and does an excellent job. Cleaning is not the easiest but it's not the fault of the product, just one of the drawbacks of drying food...it tends to stick. I found letting it soak in the sink and then finishing off with a soft dish brush does the trick!

So far, I've just used it for jerky and it has been great. Please note - take the instructions for dehydrating as a guide, not as an absolute. It takes a few rounds of trial and error to get the right drying time.

I have used it a lot! I have dried mostly fruits and fruit leathers, including tomato leather (it's yummy). I have done a few veggies. I suggest that Nesco include two more "leather" drying trays and charge more for the unit. Also, include three more clean-a-screen screens. Apparently they (Nesco) make more money if you have to order those items extra after you have purchased it.
I recommend the book: MaryBell's Complete Dehydrator Cookbook.
Overall, I figure the Gardenmaster is a great investment since I don't can food!
