I love this set -- JUST perfect for all kinds of kitchen tasks that I routinely do. I'm not a "guormet", but DO love to cook, and do enjoy quality tools in the kitchen. Firstly, they work great -- and I also think the solid weight and terrific feel of these knives in my hand is great. (I hate lightweight and flimsy-feeling knives!). They also LOOK fantastic on my countertop -- love the black wood block. Unless you're a full-blown kitchen snob -- I'd highly recommend this set.

We have been using these knives for about 3 weeks and so far they have been great. A great selection of knives including two smaller knives that are quite usefull. The blades seem very sturdy and have held an edge great so far. The block looks good but seems a bit "cheap".

Far and away the best knives you could ask for! The perfect weight and balance are only surpassed by the superior edge. The curve of the steel portion of the handle not only provides a comfortable, natural grip, but also makes them an attractive addition to the kitchen. If you found this, you found the best deal on the internet for a block set of Henckel knives(did you check for coupon codes?). We didn't want to break the bank, but we wanted a forged set with sufficient weight and sharpness. This is a terrific set; ignore what you read from others. Just don't put them in the dishwasher, and don't leave them in water for too long. Treat them like a set you'd pay a grand for, and you'll be fine.

The main knives are great. They have a good balance and are very sharp. The construction is solid. The block is dark gray, which complemented our kitchen better than the traditional wood blocks.
The steak knives that come with the set are not the same as the rest of the knives in the set. They are stamped knives from the Fine Edge Synergy line, instead of the Forged Synergy. While they are OK, they do not compare to the better quality knives that comprise the rest of the set.
This was one of the few fine knife sets that say they are dishwasher safe (even though it is not recommended). We tried one in the dishwasher and it came out with rust spots, so I will avoid this in the future. This knife did come clean with some metal polish. The knives are easily hand washed.
The knives, especially the chef, work great. They make cutting effortless. It makes me wish we had purchased these years ago.
This site had the best price I could find. While I think the main knives deserve five stars, having the unmatched, lesser steak knives brought down my rating.

Gave this knife as a gift to my son-in-law who is an awesome cook and very particular about the knives that he uses. He wanted a full tang knife handle and this is a rat-tail tang, but with the handle design, they are very solid and the matte finish and black block makes them a wonderful addition to their kitchen. He is very happy and I will think of Abe's for future needs

Heavy and Balanced. Sharp. This set comes with a removable "Made in China" sticker and stamped with German Steel, but who cares, good knife set. Abes of Maine sells for the best price on the web.

This is a quality mid level set. It has a sleek looking graphite black block that goes well with all my stainless and black kitchen appliances. Abe's had the best price on the web! I don't use a dishwasher, so I can't comment on how they perform in the dishwasher, but they are very sharp so I have to be careful when I wash them.
