This set is incredible. Out of box sharpness is top-notch and comfort and asthetics are incredible. These knives are VG-10 steel, clad with 16 layers of high carbon stainless steel. This gives it that special look.

I use these knives for all kitchen tasks and they have performed flawlessly. Not only are sharper knives easier to use, they are safer since you're putting less force behind the cut.

I terms of what's not so great about this...I HONESTLY can't think of one. Perhaps in a few years or so I'll have a complaint, but not now. I highly recommend this set.

Shun knives are top-of-the-line knives. Beautiful, functional, and SHARP -- and they stay that way. Hand clean, hone periodically, and your grandchildren will inherit them.

These knives will last you a lifetime, with free sharpening and the included honing steel these should never dull on you like other knives. Scary sharp out of the box, can cut an onion with only the weight of the knife. Beautiful knifes that feel perfect in any hand, left or right.

Im going outside to see if I can cut my car in half, Ill report back later.
