This is our first set of Shun Knives and they are excellent. Quality is top-knotch and the knives are beautiful. They are very sharp right out of the box.

The knife set is absolutely wonderful and is a steal in the mid $300 range (retails for between $700-$800). I have yet to find any negatives with this set. I find myself drawing the knives out of the block just to admire the truly beautiful damascus pattern on the blade. I recently purchase a mandolin for slicing before this set, the Shuns may have just rendered that as a paperweight. I've used them for meat, for veggies, for dicing almonds and even used the slicer for sashimi. Great set, I previously used Henkels and Wusthof but I'm totally sold on Japanese knives after this set.
