I bought this one over the Kitchen Aid because the Cooks Illustrated recommended it so highly. I have not yet tested it in pesto, hummos or any chopping, but I'm am thrilled with my butternut squash bisque, roasted red pepper and tomato soup and a couple of awesomely creamy sauces. This is also the first stick blender I've owned, so I don't have much to compare against. I find it loud, and the rack thingie it comes with to store all the bits means it pretty much has to sit on the counter, which I don't love.
