This mixer does a great job on bread and cookies. I haven't tried whipping anything in it yet.
I bought it to replace a tilt-head model, which didn't do as good of a job kneading. The bowl-lift version kneads much better. It is also louder, but that isn't a concern for me.
The bowl-lift arrangement makes it a little harder to get a spatula in to scrape the sides of the bowl. If you mostly make softer doughs and batters then the tilt-head might be a better choice. For kneading bread though, this one is definitely the way to go.
I also like the electronic speed control. The model I had before would slow down when kneading really tough stuff. This one increases the motor power to compensate, so the speed stays constant.
Finally, there is a silly detail that I like: The round cover for the place where you attach accessories is hinged. That way, it is part of the mixer and you can't misplace it. I'm the kind of person who will loose anything that isn't bolted down, so I like this.

Love the machine. Takes the work out of baking. The only negative thing is I didn't quite get the capacities that the specs said I would get.
