Comments about Denon AVR1911 7.1 A/V Multi- Receiver:

I purchased this receiver primarily for my Home Theater System. It produces great sound quality and was easy to set up. I used the supplied microphone to auto balance the crossover for the speakers. I wanted a receiver that I could use my IPOD but didn't want to purchase the separate IPOD dock. This receiver has a USB port and can switch to IPOD input for music. Your TV will display the IPOD menu but it will not show pictures or video without the IPOD dock. The receiver also has 2 zones allowing you to set up speakers in different rooms and use them independently. I use Zone 1 for my HTS and have set up a speaker switcher for Zone 2 so that I can play speakers in 3 different rooms from Zone 2. Very satisfied with this Receiver and my only complaint is that it's a bit large and barely fits on the shelf in my TV console.

Comments about Denon AVR1911 7.1 A/V Multi- Receiver:

I am using this receiver in a downstairs home theater/entertainment room and it works well in that environment. My figuring on a receiver is that unless everything is shockingly well laid out, the average user will likely focus on the oddities of the setup and usability experience. Here are my impressions thus far:

The GUI is accurate, but dated compared to the like of Sony's.

Many of the useful features are somewhat buried in the GUI's clunky hierarchy. For example, to disable a particular HDMI input you have to drill through several layers of settings that (I don't think) are not necessarily logical or obvious to use to accomplish that.

The preset volume is much too low for the unit. I had to raise the volume by 20 units to get a "loud" setting for movies.

Bass and treble controls would be a nice-to-have on the front of the unit.

The display does show the current decoding process in use, but most people will not immediately recognize the readout. I would prefer to see Dolby Digital, DTS, TrueHD or DTS Master Audio, etc. instead.

Weird observation - when muting is activated a massive clicking occurs that just seems out-of-place. No other receiver I have owned makes such a seriously loud noise.
