Comments about Panasonic Viera TC-P65S2 65" Plasma TV ATSC - HDTV 1080p - 16:9 - 1920 x 1080 - 1080p:
I was impressed with this unit overall. I had already doen quite a bit of homework on the TV itself[...] The free wall mount was OK, not the greatest, but OK. One thing to note is that if you're going to use the wall mount that comes with it, know that it is very low profile (barely an inch between back of unit and wall) which is great for a large plasma like this one as they tend to be the thickest of the flat screens, but there is no way you're gonna squeak in your cables in that 1" space. I faulted the set for poor connection placement due to the fact that you can't even use a super-low profile right angle HDMI adapter on but one of the rear HDMI ports (HDMI-1) as the coax input is directly below the HDMI-2 port and blocks the adapter from being inserted (see photo 1). Likewise, the SD card port on the side connection panel is directly beneath HDMI-3, and while you can use an offset adapter there, it will completely block access to the SD port (see photo 2). It was lucky for me that I was still building the wall that this set was destined for, and was able to create custom pass-throughs that catered to these shortcomings during the drywall phase, much easier than trying to reverse engineer cableways in an existing wall. As the "back" side of the mounted wall in my living room is located in my office, I went ahead and created a built-in bulletin board, one side of which is actually a hinged door that I can open to access the inside of the wall and get to the back of the TV. This way I'm not bending the heck out of my cables, as even with an adapter I'd have to tweak 'em pretty hard. All things considered though, I'd do it again, the price was that good.
