I waited about 3 weeks before writing this review so that I had enough information to give you as I wanted to share my research.I've been searching for a nice sized LCD HDTV for my bedroom and it was down to the Sony 40" Bravia Series and the Samsung 40" 550-750 series. I went to the stores to see the product side by side. The samsung seems to be a bit sharper and clearer, although both were not bad choices at all. I decided on the Samsung because of the sharper and more colorful picture(to me at least), the 120HZ, cheaper price tag and it swivels a mere 10deg left and right which I liked. The Sony doesn't swivel. But it really came down to the picture as i used the remote at the store to see the actual pictures side by side.Some say it glares when there is house or sunlight, but it really doesn't, unless you really look for it, you'll notice it, even then, it is not an issue. The color is fantastic, but you will need to play with the controls for the right settings. Black is truly black, and on HD, it really comes out nicely.I decided on the Samsung 650 because I didn't need the subwoofer from the 750 series which cost on average $150 or more, and the 650 had just about everything the 750 had, which was plenty for me. Plus I had my own Home surround sound, so it didn't matter. Though I did not hook up the home system right away, the sound from the TV was plenty loud.Hooked up the pc, loved surfing on it (made sure it was 1920x1080). Very content with DVDs movies played on TV, don't have a Blue Ray, but I'd imagine it's even better than the DVDs.Overall, I love this TV which I got for a great price, plus a free wall mount rack. [...] Setup was quick (less than 30 minutes). Saw the super bowl and you could actually see the beads of sweat on their foreheads and faces.I'd recommend this TV to friends and would definitely vouch for this TV and Abe's of Maine.

Easily connected to cable system with HDMI connection from DVR. Quick setup guide is very helpful. The manual has no index. On screen menus are not easy to find. The picture is excellent. Nevertheless,I rate it as just right.

Excellent color, contrast and picture.
TV is used heavily as a pc monitor.
Owned for 3 months.
Experience with Abes of Maine has been excellent.

But.... TV shuts down and turns itself off when viewing cable tv with HDMI cable and horizontal lines scroll through with component cables. (Its cable signal issue with tv and not cable box) This problem might be an isolated case. Currently, experience with samsung warrantee group has been great. I would like to recommend the TV but, until issue is resolved I can not.

Did not plan on purchasing this tv but the picture jumped out at store compared to all others. Was sure it was a plasma and was surprised to find it was an LCD. Had some concerns about glare and motion blur. No motion blur that I could detect at all. Have watched football, tennis and basketball and the images were terrific. Slight glare in bright sunlight when viewing something that makes the screen almost completely black but this is rare and does not distract from the enjoyment of the image. It's certainly less glare than my previous tube tv.

Great deal for the money!!!!!!!!

The 40" lcd screen is hooked into a state of the art computer and used primarily to play online games. The picture has good contrast and good detail. The sound could be a little better but satisfactory. The sound is certainly much better than the Sony 40" I have next to it.

I researched this tv for months both online and in various retail shops. Once you see the picture on this tv you will be amazed. More than enough connections for whatever you need and a USB port for tumb/external devices. I compared the picture on this tv to my brother-in-laws ln40a550 (no 120hz processing) and what a difference. The only complaint I have is that there is a problem with conecting my hd cable box using an hdmi cable (this issue is explaned in the manual for the tv) problem with the box not the tv and the rgb hd cables work fine and were free with the cable box. As for Abes of Maine their service was incredible. [...] Abe's price could not be beat [...]In all I am very satisfied and recomend this tv to everyone looking to upgrade to HD. Do the research yourself Samsung LN40a650 comes in the top on all the sites.

Are these worth the extra money? Probably. The TV has an excellent picture, but so do other TVs. The connections are a definite plus allowing more connections, and the bezel looks like fine furniture, not cheap black plastic.

If you are willing to shell out a couple bundred bucks over a bargain basement LCD, I highly recommend this unit.

When I got the Samsung LCD TV it was just what I wanted and Boxed with no worries of any damage to it.The TV with a dish network HD reciever looks great and movies so real, The picture will blow you away. This TV will just amaze you with an HD reciever or a Blu-ray disc player hooked up. The price at ABE'S was just great low price [...] I'm going to shop there more often.

The only "negative" is that the super bright and sharp image took some getting used to, compared to the 720p HD CRT Toshiba set it replaced. The Toshiba was a good set, but the LN40A650 blows it away on picture quality. This was a CR top-scoring set on a recent review, which is why I purchased. I can understand why. Easy set up, controls, sound; and great picture.

They don't come any better

Excellent Product!
The only "minus" was the controls. Once learned it was OK. I still find the process a bit "bulky" but I suspect that all HDTVs are the same.

Very easy to setup. We just connected cable coax and turned the set on. We received HD on our cable without a cable box. Exaample: Analog cable came up as channel 11 and HD for same channel was channel 11-1. Better than we expected.

The Samsung 6 Series is an amazing TV. The setup was a breeze. Specially like the RSS feature for getting the weather, news and stocks update. Although wish it was a wireless connection... could had reduced the clutter. The colors are rich and the sound is great. I've hooked the Wii to it... love the experience!
