The television has poor sound but not terrible. I watch a lot of movies from a blue ray player and the picture is amazing my friends can't get enough of it. I also play ps3 a lot and that picture is terrific. Can't really think of a reason not to buy the tv other than the sound but if your spending the money you may as well purchase a surround sound unit as well.

The set was great right out of the box. I tested it before the delivery man left, and was amazed. The colors are rich and realistic. The picture is amazingly clear. I have tweeked the picture to my tastes and look forward to years of enjoyment. You can buy a less expensive set, but you will not get the quality and features of this set.

As a casual user this TV has far exceeded my expectations. I read up on it and watched prices. Spending the money I didn't want to get burned. In hind sight I should have just bought it, it's excellent! [...] I would use Abes again, and would think twice befor buying anything but a Samsung. I have only had it for about a month , but so far am very happy with it. If it blows up I will let you know.

I was concerned since this was going in a room with skylights and French doors, but there has been no glare issue. The sound directly from the TV is OK, but that's not why I purchased the TV, my receiver handles the sound. TV looks great I have it on the stand.

there is a definite problem with the remote control when used in conjunction with my dish receiver! i did some research on the internet and found that a lot of people are having the same problem. i would not reccomend this t.v. until samsung gets this problem rectified!

Wow -- even without my glasses this picture is crystal clear. Default picture settings very good out of box. Sound quality not the best, but that was somewhat expected considering TV is only 2" thick. Love the low profile becasue we mounted it above a firepalce and can still put things on the mantle. However, recommend external speakers for home theater and music. Firmware update does not have my motorola/comcast HD box remote code. Anynet feature made setting up the our samsung blu-ray a breeze. Was worried about the touch of color being a distraction, but it is barely noticeable if at all and overall appearance looks great. This TV definitely exceeded my expectations.

We researched many sets and decided to purchase the best set we could find. This Samsung 52" 850 was the one. Great picture and good sound. We usually listen through our separate surround sound but the sound from the set is adequate. We get some glare on the bottom of the frame and sometimes on the picture (the set is opposite a large window) but it's not too bad. Overall a good choice.

saw the 52in 750 model and didnt like the bezel too much. thought it was too think around the screen. I was in [...] and saw the 850 model and fell in love with it. I like how the bezel is really thin around the screen and the thinkness of the whole TV is less then 2 inches too. Great tp place on a wall. [...]I would recommend buying from here and as well and for any further buying needs.

This is a good TV. If you buy it, you'll be happy with it. Watching this TV is a great experience.

That said, over time, I've noticed some things about the TV and its features. It is hard to describe these accurately without living with the TV for a while but I'll try.

First, when you first get the TV, the picture is great and it remains great. But, as others describe, it does have a pixel-perfect look that other TVs don't have. For a while, I couldn't place it but now I've figured it out: it makes Hollywood films look like they were shot on home video. These days, home videos have a bright, pixel perfect look and that's exactly what this TV makes things look like (by default). It's weird: you see Robert DeNiro but it's like his home video. Maybe adjustments could be made to mediate this effect but I haven't tried. If you are really picky, this effect could be disconcerting, even annoying. For me, it's just weird.

Second, the built-in Content is so bad that it is funny. The games and kids shows are jerky Flash animations seemingly from the early 1990's; they are so horrible and rough that even free sites on the Internet would be embarrassed. Like I said, it is so bad that it's moved over into being camp entertainment.

Third, DLNA is pretty lame. It is the same as putting a movie, picture or music on a USB drive but you can serve it from a computer. DLNA is not Windows Media Center; it is not very flexible and very basic.

Fourth, the online weather, news and stocks are not well-integrated. For the most part, they obscure what you are watching.

But, overall, a great TV.

Honestly, this TV is awesome! Ultimate clarity, light, and super thin. The ToC design gives the room a very nice touch of elegance.

I shopped around for various 52" LCD manufacturers, but decided to go with the Samsung. The technology is great and the colors are extremely vibrant.

I am very pleased with this TV and would highly recommend it to all.

We can't say enough good things about this set. Connections and picture set-up were simple and quick. "Quick Start" instructions were easy to understand. Picture and sound quality are superb. Menus are very concise and easy to follow. When coupled to a home theater system, it's almost like being in a real cinema.

While I am still not crazy about the articulating mount that was recommended, this TV is great. It's mounted in the corner of our great room and fills the room with a great picture. The thinner design cost more, but is a bonus for where I have mounted the TV. The sound is okay for the news or maybe Jeopardy, but you need some kind of sound system for just about everything else. I have a Bose 3-2-1 which is nothing special, but more than adequate for the casual user or enthuiast. Very happy that I went with the Samsung over the Sony...

After doing a lot of research online, and visiting various stores to compare different sets, I purchased the Samsung A850, and have not had a scond of buyers remorse. This is truly a great unit with an unbelievable picture. I've had a couple of friends complain that HD cable and Blu-Ray movies don't look right because the picture is so real that it makes you feel like you could step into the scene. It's a completely different viewing experience after watching a Sammy 50" DLP for the last 5 years. Worth every penny.

I researched LCD TVs by going to various stores and watching their demos and read reviews of purchasers. Consumer Reports rated it way up there. My sons own a Sony HDMI LCD 52" top of the Sony line and my other son owns a Panasonic HDMI 52" Plasma top of the line. I think the Samsung is a better quality TV than either one of the others. It has 4 HDMI connections which are easy to access. I hooked up my BluRay DVD player with one HDMI cable, eliminating A/V cables and making hook up easy. I would recommend this TV to anyone looking for a 52" LCD HDMI TV

This is an incredible picture! I researched comparable brands, viewed this set side-by-side with other brands in stores and have never been happier making this purchase. I bought the 860 model rather than the 850. The 860 has the Touch of Blue rather than the Red that the 850 model offers. Not many places offer the 860. But I will agree with another reviewer that the sound on this set is only adequate, like it was an after thought by the manufacturer. But I have a great set of external speakers so it doesn't present a problem for me. It's also a beautiful design. You won't be disappointed.

Overall, extremely satisfied with the product. I didn't realize the full capabilities of this TV until I finished setting it up. The picture quality is superior. The functionality of the set is beyond expectations. This TV will stop your friends in their tracks. Though the TV is a centerpiece type television designed for action movies and sports, gaming is taken to a whole new level. The only cons to the set are: The TV is heavy, be prepared; The TV's technology is actually ahead of its time, if you can call this a con, and; If you are going to invest in this set, plan on a good sound system to go with it. The TV's sound system was an after thought.
